PARADISE BIRD ISLAND

. Minggu, 02 Agustus 2009

Part 1

The expert said that there is nothing more beautiful than a
natural jungle that never been touched by anybody,,,,

Of course, yes it is. Because as we know that something seems attractive from its pureness. Talking about pureness, it has a strong relationship of meaning with evefrything in our paradise bird island which is located in the eastern part of indonesian archipelago called Papua. This island is very interesting to be discussed, because there are so many aspects that still stay at their pureness. Thoose are including the forests, beliefs, customs and also the people. Yet, until nowadays, almost people arround there still life in primitive customs, for example they still use their traditional clothes called Koteka and Rumbai, they life by nature, could not accept the development of information and still have some beliefs since hundred years ago. They believe that the way people life and stay in this earth is depending on how their struggles to the life. However, not all Papuan people have the thoughts like that. Those are only they are who live in the
mountains and the high land. Thus, I really interested to learn about their habbits and customs while I am staying there.

Well, I have ever tried to understand the native Papuan language and I choose to analyse about Biak language. The language is interesting and I really enjoy to learn it. I used to practice my conversation in Biak with the native and surprisingly she liked my way of speaking in that language. She said that Papua especially Biak must be proud of its own language because there was somebody who tried to analyse the language. Another thing that becomes my challenging experience is eating its traditional food called Papeda. It mades from sagoo and completed by fish and also vegetables. About the taste,,,,,,it was so terrible I think......so strange in my tongue. It is the strangest food in this planet may be. Sincerely, I do not like that food at much,,,,until recently.

There are many things that I have learned from this island, such as a good personal attitude. People arround this earth must know that Papuan native people is very polite and have a high considerable about their environment. Along the road, you will see that each person always gives greeting to the others arround, although they never met yet. It shows that those people want to give respect to somebody else. It can reflect that there is a high values of communicating in society, about how to talk and how to respect others. That is such a good thing that I can get. Besides, I once heard that there is still a primitive rule that the native Papuan has, which is contrary to the human rights. That is, when there is one of our family member die, someone have to cut one finger until a half part. The cutted fingers that someone has reflect to the number of family who already die. The more person died, the more finger are cutted.........Basically, I hate this
habbit!

Actually, I still wanna talk more about Papua, but I will continue with another topic that also really attractive....
